About Jim Coleman
Jim Coleman was born in St. Charles and grew up in Elgin. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1964 and University of Illinois Champaign in 1968 with a BA in Economics. He then fulfilled a lifelong dream by enlisting in the U.S. Navy flight program becoming a Navy Pilot and serving his country from 1969 to 1971. In 1972 he decided to change careers by leaving the Navy and joining his father in the real estate business in St. Charles. He quickly realized that success in the real estate business would require community involvement and hard work. He joined the St. Charles Jaycees in 1973 where he made many life long friends and served as President. He also was active in the Kiwanis Club and many other church and community activities.Jim served on the board of directors and became President of the Fox Valley Board of Realtors. He was awarded the title of Realtor of the Year in 1994 for his community service and service to the board of Realtors.
Jim’s father mentored his career development by teaching him the real estate business which included selling and appraising real estate. Jim Sr. died in 2013. He was certified as a Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and the firm continues to serve a broad appraisal clientele.
Jim’s career to date has included sales of all types of properties including residential, commercial, industrial and vacant land. He has consistently been a multi-million dollar producer. In addition he has developed the Coleman Management Company which provides management services for residential, commercial and condominium properties.
